Dash sure wants to buy the 2004 Mustang on Uncle Bart’s used car lot. But Dad is concerned because it is a stick shift. “Dash doesn’t know how to drive a stick,” Dad tells Uncle Bart.
Uncle Bart lets out a howl and throws his arms up into the air.
“What boy doesn’t know how to drive a stick?” Uncle Bart roars.
When he sees Uncle Bart whisper something in Dad’s ear, and sees Dad laughing, Dash wonders what Uncle Bart just told his dad. Whatever Uncle Bart said, it eased Dad’s concerns.
Even though it is a stick, even though Dash doesn’t know how to drive a stick, Dash still wants that Mustang. He hands Uncle Bart the wad of cash he’s saved. Dad gets in the drivers seat, Dash sits in the passenger seat, and off they go.
So Dad drives the Mustang out into the country. He finds a quiet road where he can teach Dash how to handle a stick shift. But first, he wants to see how Dash handles his own stick, so he knows how to teach his son properly.
